FIFA World Cup: Germany Won Their Fourth Title

　　The roar from Germany’s die-hard supporters at Maracana stadium rose to ear-popping levels as Mario Gotze’s breath-taking goal in the 113th minute shattered a scoreless tie with Argentina with limited extra time nearing the end. When the 1-0 victory before 74,738 spectators was finalized, a celebration erupted on and off the field.

　　“In 2004, German football was down,” said Coach Joachim Low, who was the 2006 World Cup Germany team head coach Klinsmann’s assistant. “We took decisive steps. We said, ‘We have to invest more in the education so we are technically better.’ Just having the German virtue is not enough.” And now Germany is world champion.

　　FIFA also announced several awards to recognize great performances from players throughout their time in Brazil. As for the most important individual awards, the Golden Ball is the most prestigious as it is given to the most outstanding player of the tournament. It goes to Lionel Messi from Argentina while James Rodriguez from Colombia, the top scorer in the World Cup 2014 won the Golden Boot Award. Manuel Neuer from Germany was awarded The Golden Glove, honored as the best goalkeeper.

　　國際足球總會也宣布了幾個獎項以表彰球員們在巴西世足賽期間的傑出表現。至於最重要也是最負盛名的個人獎項為金球獎，這是頒給在整個賽期中表現最傑出的球員。此獎項頒給了阿根廷的利昂內爾‧梅西；而來自哥倫比亞的哈梅斯‧羅德里奎斯是二○一四年世界杯的進球王，贏得了金靴獎。德國的曼努埃爾?諾伊爾則是拿下了金手套獎，以表揚他是最佳守門員。
